Position Summary STARPLUS ENERGY LLC is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Cost Accountant to join our accounting team. As a key member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the operational and administrative functions essential to the success of the cost process. The ideal candidate will possess organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and a passion for contributing to sustainable accounting practices. This position reports to the Accounting Director.
Roles & Responsibilities - Establish a cost accounting system based on the bill of materials and standard costs for manufacturing processes
- Develop pricing estimates for each model and monitor raw material pricing, addressing any off-standard issues
- Prepare periodic reports that include forecast and variance analysis
- Understand manufacturing processes to create key performance indicators for cost and inventory management
- Collaborate with manufacturing, purchasing, and other departments to enhance cost and inventory controls
- Manage inventory reconciliations, establish accounting policies, and oversee month-end closing activities
- Perform other position related duties as assigned
Basic - Minimum Age: 18 years old
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or similar
- Must be eligible to work in the United States
- While travel is unlikely, the ideal candidate will be able to travel, with reasonable prior notice as required (domestic and/or international)
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, or holidays as required
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, methods, and techniques for cost and inventories
- Proficient in MS Excel, MS Access, or other database applications
- Strong knowledge of SAP, overhead allocations, cost drivers, BOM, and other related cost accounting concepts
- Knowledge in ADP systems
- Understanding of basic accounting principles
Preferred - Bilingual English and Korean
- Masters of Business Administration
- Experience in continuous improvement systems and lean manufacturing
- Ability and desire to identify opportunities for process improvements and enact change
Working Conditions - Ability to sit, walk and stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to work around the potential exposure to dust and chemicals
- Ability to wear appropriate PPE as deemed essential for the job function
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
- To safely perform the essential functions of the position you must be able to distinguish colors
