Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and safety-conscious Welder with strong structural welding
expertise to join our growing grading and utilities team. This role is responsible for fabricating,
repairing, and installing structural steel components for heavy civil construction projects,
including earthmoving equipment, utility structures, retaining systems, trench shoring, and other
critical site infrastructure. Candidates must be comfortable working in shop and field
environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform MIG, TIG, Stick, and Flux Core welding on steel and structural components.
Fabricate and assemble structural frames, supports, utility brackets, and site structures
based on engineered drawings and specs.
Inspect, maintain, and repair construction equipment and attachments (buckets, blades,
rippers, etc.).
Weld on pipe and steel for stormwater, sewer, water, and utility infrastructure as needed.
Ensure proper joint preparation, alignment, and weld quality.
Operate cutting torches, plasma cutters, grinders, and other metalworking tools.
Work from blueprints, schematics, and verbal instructions.
Follow OSHA safety protocols and company standards at all times.
Assist with field welding repairs and mobile welding on job sites.
Maintain equipment logs and welding certifications.
Qualifications:
3+ years of welding experience in construction, preferably grading or utilities.
Proven experience welding structural steel to AWS D1.1 or similar standards.
Ability to read and interpret structural blueprints and fabrication drawings.
Skilled with all primary welding methods (MIG, Stick, TIG, Flux Core).
Familiarity with utility infrastructure, heavy equipment, and field fabrication.
Must be able to work in outdoor environments and tight spaces when needed.
Possess or willing to obtain OSHA 10 or 30 certification.
Valid driver's license; CDL is a plus.
Certification in structural welding preferred (AWS or similar).
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift 50+ lbs.
Comfortable working in hot, cold, muddy, or uneven terrain.
Able to stand, bend, kneel, and climb for extended periods.
