Job Summary

TransLash Media is seeking a creative, detail-oriented, and collaborative Community Engagement Content Manager to lead the development of digital content that serves and supports the transgender and gender non-conforming community. This part-time role will focus on crafting TransLash’s newsletter, resource guides, and other community-focused content that reflects TransLash’s values and provides clear, accessible, and useful information to our readers. 

The ideal candidate will be a strong writer and editor who understands how to drive engagement through thoughtful, mission-aligned writing. Availability is required during East Coast business hours (9 AM–5 PM ET), with occasional evening and weekend support as needed.

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Create newsletter content that is timely, helpful, and relevant with a voice reflective of the wide-range of trans identities

  • Research, write, and produce accessible, mission-aligned resource guides, toolkits, and long-form content that support and inform our audience

  • Plan, write, and distribute bi-weekly and special-edition newsletters using Mailchimp

  • Track and analyze performance metrics to improve newsletter content and reach

  • Ensure content is accurate, clearly organized, easy to understand, and provides information for a wide range of audiences

  • Collaborate with the full digital team to align community content with editorial calendars, campaigns, and audience needs

  • Maintain and apply consistent voice, tone, and brand standards, as well as formatting and accessibility across all content

  • Work cross-functionally with the digital team to ensure alignment between written and visual content

  • Perform additional digital and administrative tasks as assigned to support the Director of Digital & Social Media

Required Skills/Abilities: 
  • Demonstrated experience writing engaging, inclusive, and accessible content tailored to diverse audiences 

  • 3-5 years experience in digital content creation, communications, editorial, or similar roles focused on community-centered or public-facing writing

  • Strong understanding of content organization and basic performance metrics

  • Excellent command of grammar, AP Style (or similar), and plain language principles

  • Proficiency with content management systems, newsletter tools (including Mailchimp and Substack), and collaborative platforms such as Google and Asana

  • You also have:

    • Proven ability to collaborate across diverse cultures, backgrounds, and perspectives

    • Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills

    • Skilled in balancing creative ideas with data-driven thinking

    • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities

    • Effective time management and proactive planning from concept to execution

    • Self-motivated, ambitious, and entrepreneurial in approach

  • Tech-Savvy & Adaptive: Comfortable using tools like MailChimp and WordPress; stays updated on digital tools, trends, and platforms, helping improve workflows and content creation

  • Communication & Problem-Solving: Communicate clearly with the team and help address challenges, offering practical solutions where needed


Physical Requirements:

  • Remaining in a stationary position, often sitting or standing for prolonged periods

  • Prolonged periods working on a computer

  • Communicating with others to exchange information

  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers

  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at a time.
