Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Scientist, In Vivo to join our Preclinical Research team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in advancing our cell therapy programs for neurodegenerative diseases, with a primary focus on Parkinson’s disease. This position requires deep expertise in neuroscience, preclinical in vivo models, and hands-on experience with the 6-hydroxydopamine (6-OHDA) lesion model in nude rats .
Requirements
- Key Responsibilities:
- Design, execute, and analyze in vivo studies supporting the efficacy, safety, and mechanism-of-action of cell therapy candidates.
- Serve as subject matter expert on the 6-OHDA nude rat model for Parkinson’s disease; lead study design, dosing, behavioral assessments, and necropsy.
- Develop and refine animal models to evaluate neurodegeneration and cell therapy interventions.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with teams in cell biology, histology, and translational medicine to integrate data and interpret results.
- Ensure compliance with IACUC protocols and maintain high standards of animal welfare.
- Prepare and present data in internal meetings, author study protocols and reports, and author/review documents in support of regulatory filings.
- Qualifications:
- PhD in Neuroscience, Cell & Molecular Biology, or a related discipline, with 5+ years of postdoctoral or industry experience; MS with 8+ years or BS with 12+ years of relevant experience.
- Proven track record of leading in vivo studies for neurological disorders, particularly in Parkinson’s disease.
- Hands-on expertise with stereotaxic injections in rats is required, experience with 6-OHDA lesion model in nude rats preferred.
- Strong background in small animal surgery including immune-deficient rodents.
- Experience with animal behavioral assays.
- Excellent data analysis, scientific communication, and project management skills.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with human iPSC-derived cell therapies.
- Experience with histology, imaging and stereology techniques.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements for IND-enabling studies.
- Experience with in vivo imaging.
- Prior industry experience in a biotech or pharmaceutical setting.
