Records Technician - Grade 10

Position Details

Salary starting : at $19.63/hour (Depending on experience)

Status:  Non-Exempt / Full Time

SUMMARY OF POSITION

This position performs technical duties in the maintenance of department records.

MAJOR DUTIES

• Prepares morning paperwork for Municipal and District Courts and social services; distributes paperwork to appropriate offices.
• Answers telephone and greets visitors; provides information and assistance; directs to appropriate personnel; provides information and reports to insurance companies and the general public.
• Opens, sorts, and distributes mail.
• Performs data entry for warrants, parking tickets, alarms, and citations; processes a variety of applications; processes court-related documents; receives and accounts for funds.
• Collects parking ticket and other fees; keeps track of monies collected.
• Codes and enters departmental bills.
• Prepares employee probation and evaluation reports and distributes to supervisors.
• Copies, scans, and faxes documents.
• Assist Investigations Division with review and documentation of audio and video files; collect investigative data from reports and other documents to aid in the analysis of criminal offenses; organize reports and documents into investigative case files.
• Performs related duties.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.
• Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION

• Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
• Knowledge of city and departmental policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
• Knowledge of records management guidelines.
• Knowledge of FOIA regulations.
• Skill in prioritizing and organizing work.
• Skill in the provision of customer services.
• Skill in the maintenance of files and records.
• Skill in the use of such office equipment as a computer, scanner, fax machine, and copier.
• Skill in oral and written communication.
