The PACS Administrator is responsible for the daily management, maintenance, and support of the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) and related imaging technologies. This role ensures the efficient operation of PACS, supports clinical staff, and maintains compliance with healthcare regulations and data security standards.

Key Responsibilities

System Administration
- Monitor and maintain PACS performance, storage, and uptime.
- Perform system upgrades, patches, and backups.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls.

Technical Support
- Provide first-line support for PACS-related issues.
- Troubleshoot image acquisition, transmission, and display problems.
- Coordinate with vendors for advanced support and system enhancements.

Workflow Optimization
- Collaborate with radiology and IT teams to streamline imaging workflows.
- Ensure timely and accurate image routing between modalities and PACS.
- Support integration with RIS, EMR, and other clinical systems.

Compliance & Security
- Ensure PACS operations comply with HIPAA and other regulatory standards.
- Maintain audit trails and documentation for system access and data handling.
- Implement and monitor data security protocols.

Training & Documentation
- Train clinical and administrative staff on PACS usage and best practices.
- Develop and maintain system documentation and user guides.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Healthcare Informatics, or related field (preferred).
- 3+ years of experience in PACS administration or radiology IT support.
- Strong understanding of DICOM, HL7, and imaging modalities.
- Experience with PACS/RIS systems (e.g., GE, Philips, Fuji, Sectra, etc.).
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations (HIPAA, HITECH).

Preferred Skills
- Experience with scripting or automation tools.
- Familiarity with virtual environments and cloud-based PACS solutions.
- Certification in PACS administration or healthcare IT (e.g., CIIP).
