Job Title: Patient Care Technician Emergency Room

Location: Edison, NJ 08818

Schedule: 3x12 Hour Shifts, 36 Hours/Week

Shifts Available:

• Night Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM

• Day Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated Patient Care Technician (PCT) to join our healthcare team in a fast-paced emergency department setting. The PCT will support nursing staff by delivering high-quality care and assisting with essential clinical and administrative tasks. This role is ideal for candidates passionate about direct patient care and who thrive in dynamic hospital environments.

Responsibilities:

• Greet patients and verify identification and wristbands

• Assist with admission, physical examinations, and procedures

• Perform blood draws (IV or capillary) across all age groups using proper technique

• Perform electrocardiograms (EKGs) as directed

• Ensure equipment is clean, functional, and available

• Support patient transport as needed

• Assist patients with meals and feeding if necessary

• Maintain inventory and restock supplies

• Prepare rooms for new admissions

• Deliver hygiene care including bathing, toileting, oral care, and bed making

• Obtain and record vital signs, patient weights, glucose fingersticks, and intake/output

• Promptly respond to call lights and report any patient status changes to RN

• Communicate effectively with patients and caregivers, adapting to age, language, and sensory needs

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED

• Completion of a Patient Care Technician program

• EKG Course Certificate

• Phlebotomy Course Certificate

• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification

Preferred Experience:

• Minimum 1 year of experience as a PCT or CNA in a hospital setting strongly preferred
