The Logistics Sourcing Specialist is responsible for efficient freight forwarder/carrier sourcing processes to maximize profitability and capacity in order to participate in the potential customer’s logistics bids. The position negotiates directly with suppliers to obtain services and capacity at the best prices by using logistics solutions, sourcing strategies and extensive knowledge of the transportation industry. Logistics Sourcing Specialists are also responsible for carrier relations, retention and capacity management for all aspects of transportation.

Responsibilities:

• Conducting internal and external RFQ data analysis and cost research for freight forwarder/carrier sourcing.
• Maintaining and fostering a good working relationship with vendors.
• Face to face negotiations with Ocean, Drayage, Full Truckload, Less than Truckload, Intermodal, Shuttle, Warehousing, Hot Shot, and Parcel vendors.
• Conduct pricing reviews with all vendors nationwide.
• Enforce company compliance such as Hazmat certifications, CTPAT, DOT requirements and Cybersecurity.
• Negotiating price, quantity, terms and conditions with freight forwarders/carriers.
• Working with legal team to ensure all conditions regarding the business are met in the contract.
• Administering and enforcing company’s internal procurement system during the sourcing process.
• Evaluating suppliers’ quotes and compiling a detailed assessment of cost element breakdowns.
• Consulting sales team with recommendation/solutions to improve potential customers’ logistics practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree required, degree related to SCM or Logistics preferred.
• 6+ years of pricing/sourcing experience in the freight forwarding/transportation logistics industry required.
• Proactive demeanor and strong attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to relate to and build relationships with people at all levels of an organization.
• Ability to travel up to 15-25% within the domestic United States.
