Position Title: Entry Level Police Officer

The Vernon Hills Police Department is now hiring for the position of Police Officer. All candidates must take the FrontLine National Exam through the National Testing Network (NTN) before the application deadline. Additionally, applicants must complete the NTN Personal History Questionnaire and submit the required documents, including a physical agility test card dated no earlier than six months before the application, a birth certificate, a high school diploma, and college transcripts.

Salary:
Entry-level starting salary: $83,592.

Application Deadline:
Applications and test results will be accepted until a suitable pool of applicants is attained or August 31, 2024, whichever comes first. Candidates must complete all testing and submit all required documentation by August 31, 2024. Incomplete applications or applications received after this date will not be accepted.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

Age: Between 21 and 34 years at the time of application (exemptions apply for military or prior police experience)
Education: 60 earned credit hours from an accredited institution of higher learning
High School Diploma or GED
Valid Driver's License
No felony convictions
Successful completion of the examination process
Hiring Process:

Obtain a Physical Agility test card dated no earlier than six months before the application.
Submit application and complete the entry exam.
Participate in a Police Department staff interview and orientation.
Undergo a Board application review.
Attend a Board interview.
Complete a background investigation and polygraph exam.
Receive a conditional offer of employment.
Pass psychological and medical exams.
Receive a final offer of employment.
Swearing-in and issuance of the Oath of Office.
