We offer stakeholder partnering, risk management, and project advisory services that unlock clarity, trust, and momentum, enabling teams to navigate complexity effectively. This role offers significant autonomy and executive visibility , empowering you to make decisions, drive rapid implementation, and see the direct, tangible impact of your leadership on our business, our clients, and the communities they serve – free from excessive red tape.

Your Role: Strategic Leadership & Business Growth

As a senior leader shaping part of our business , you will define strategy, drive growth, and ensure operational excellence for your practice area. You will:

  • Develop & Execute Practice Strategy: Define the vision, market positioning, service offerings, and growth plan for your practice area, building innovative solutions and aligning with Carta's overall strategic objectives.
  • Lead Business Development & Client Relationships: Drive significant revenue growth by originating key client engagements, cultivating C-suite relationships, leveraging your extensive network, overseeing major proposals, and representing Carta at an executive level.
  • Mentor & Develop a High-Performing Team: Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-caliber team, fostering a culture of collaboration, excellence, and professional growth. Guide resource allocation and team performance.
  • Ensure Delivery Excellence & Innovation: Champion best practices in service delivery, oversee quality assurance for key engagements, and drive innovation in methodologies and client solutions within your practice.
  • Manage Practice Operations: Oversee practice-level financial performance (potentially including P&L responsibility), utilization, and operational efficiency in collaboration with firm leadership.

Who We're Looking For: Embodying Our Values

We seek proven leaders who embody our core values: Impact, Relationships, Team, and Excellence.

  • Experience: Bachelor’s degree required (MBA or relevant Master's preferred), with 10-20+ years of experience in construction, real estate development, management consulting, or leading complex programs within the public sector. Proven track record building/scaling a practice or business unit is highly desirable. Deep expertise in relevant industry sectors, managing complex program lifecycles, or specific methodologies (e.g., risk management, Lean, complex facilitation, stakeholder management in regulated environments) is expected. We highly value transferable experience leading diverse teams and navigating complex stakeholder landscapes.
  • Strategic & Commercial Acumen: Demonstrated ability to develop market strategy, drive revenue growth, manage financial performance, and make sound commercial decisions. Experience with P&L management is a strong plus.
  • Leadership & Communication: Exceptional executive presence and communication skills (written, verbal, presentation). Proven ability to inspire and mentor teams, build consensus across diverse stakeholder groups, and influence senior internal and external stakeholders.
  • Industry Influence: Established network and reputation within the construction, real estate, government contracting, or related consulting industries preferred.
  • Entrepreneurial Mindset: Thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced, growth-oriented environment; comfortable with ambiguity, embraces innovation, and possesses a strong drive for results and ownership.
