Job Description

System One has partnered with a growing construction services firm that is seeking a hands-on Accounting Manager to oversee daily accounting operations and support corporate finance initiatives. This role is critical to maintaining accurate financials and supporting business growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Payroll (weekly), and job invoicing

• Oversee general accounting functions, including month-end and year-end close, journal entries, and reconciliations

• Partner with leadership and external CPA on corporate tax planning and compliance

• Handle job costing and project accounting, ensuring accurate tracking of expenses and profitability

• Maintain and improve internal controls, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory standards

• Support HR functions related to payroll, benefits, and employee onboarding as needed

• Provide financial reporting and analysis to leadership, offering insights for operational and strategic decisions

• Train and mentor staff on construction-specific accounting processes and systems

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CPA track strongly preferred)

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including exposure to corporate tax

• Strong background in AP, AR, payroll, and invoicing

• Experience with job costing and construction industry accounting preferred 

• Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite

• Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

• Strong communication skills and ability to work directly with leadership in a small-company setting
