The Textile Shift Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the yarn spinning process, including machine operation, employee management, quality control, safety, and productivity during the assigned shift. This role involves supervising spinning machine operators, ensuring the timely production of quality yarn, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
Lead and supervise spinning machine operators and other production staff during the shift.
Provide direction and support to ensure tasks are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
Train new employees on machinery operation, safety procedures, and quality standards.
Machine Operation & Maintenance:
Oversee the operation of spinning machines (e.g., ring spinning, open-end spinning) to ensure smooth production processes.
Monitor machine performance, identify issues, and implement corrective actions.
Ensure routine maintenance and troubleshooting are carried out as required to minimize downtime.
Quality Control:
Monitor yarn quality during production to ensure it meets specifications (e.g., consistency, strength, texture).
Work with quality control teams to conduct inspections and resolve any product defects.
Implement corrective actions if quality standards are not met.
Production Monitoring:
Ensure that production targets and deadlines are met.
Monitor production outputs, assess performance metrics, and adjust processes to maintain or improve efficiency.
Report on production progress, machine performance, and any issues to the plant manager.
Safety & Compliance:
Ensure the team adheres to safety regulations, machine operating procedures, and industry standards.
Conduct safety briefings at the beginning of each shift and enforce safety protocols.
Investigate and report any workplace accidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions.
Inventory & Supplies Management:
Monitor raw material inventory levels (e.g., fiber, bobbins) and ensure timely procurement to avoid production delays.
Track consumables used in the spinning process and coordinate replenishment.
Team Coordination & Communication:
Coordinate with other departments (e.g., maintenance, quality control, warehouse) to ensure smooth workflow and effective problem resolution.
Maintain clear communication with shift workers and upper management regarding production issues, challenges, and performance.
Reporting & Documentation:
Maintain detailed logs of machine performance, production quantities, quality checks, and any maintenance performed.
Provide reports on daily operations, including productivity metrics and any incidents or deviations from production plans.
Continuous Improvement:
Identify areas for improvement in processes, machine settings, or team workflow.
Recommend and implement process optimizations to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance product quality.
Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required; a degree in textile engineering, industrial management, or a related field is preferred.
Experience: 2-4 years of experience in yarn spinning or textile production, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role.
Technical Skills:
Leadership: Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team.
Communication: Effective communication skills for reporting, training, and coordinating with teams and management.
Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to resolve production issues quickly.
Safety Awareness: Knowledge of workplace safety standards and a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
The position requires working in rotating shifts (morning, evening, night) to ensure continuous production. Overtime may be required during peak production periods or to cover staffing shortages.
